Hungry and Foolish for RAI

Bee Aerial was excited to film the British episode of the Hungry and Foolish TV documentary, produced by RAI, celebrating the Expo 2015 Universal Exposition hosted in Milan, Italy. The documentary was a co-production between the Italian Broadcasting Corporation and the Expo, which was themed around food, with the motto “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. The production was one of RAI’s biggest that year, filming in eight countries on five continents.

The British segment explored how steam trains revolutionised the distribution of food during the Victorian era. Our shoot took place at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre, where we provided aerial and ground-based footage filming steam trains travelling on the historic railway. The director even wanted a shot with the drone passing through the steam shooting out of the train’s chimney – which we managed in two takes. We shot with the DJI S900 with Panasonic GH4 VLog, with a three man crew.

Here is the official page for the project and the full version of the film, broadcast on the day of the opening of the expo: expo.rai.it/hungry-and-foolish/
