The Open for BBC Sport

  • BBC Sport

Our Client the BBC contacted us about The Open, which is the oldest tournament in professional golf, first played in 1860 and set in St Andrews, Scotland. It is currently the third major of four, following The Masters and the U.S. Open. BBC Sport required aerial filming to showcase the whole landscape of the golf course from a unique point of view and POV of the players.

We worked with Ken Brown, the main golf analyst and commentator for BBC TV. The aerial filming was for a special programme directed and presented by Ken Brown himself. The programme was broadcasted over the five days of the tournament. Ken was a pleasure to work with and even asked to try out the drone!

It was a real honour to have the opportunity to film at such a prestigious place, full of history and even managed to catch a glimpse of Tiger Woods.

We used the DJI s900 Drone with the Panasonic Gh4 and filmed in 4K at 25fps as the client included CGI on top of the images as they required high resolution.
